Euroshell Srl, based in Marmirolo di Reggio Emilia, is a foundry core making company founded in 1969, now led by the third generation. The company specializes in the production of cores using the shell moulding process, a technology that enables the creation of components with complex geometries and varying weights and sizes. Thanks to a flexible organization and a large production facility, Euroshell is able to handle both small batches and high-volume industrial production.
The company operates a fleet of 23 core shooter machines and is strongly focused on the engine sector, particularly in supplying cores for cylinder heads.
Its customers are Italian foundries that export worldwide, confirming a solid international vocation and a strategic position within the automotive supply chain.
Needs
The collaboration with Primafond arose from the need to introduce a core shooter machine capable of housing multiple core boxes, with the goal of optimizing the production process. Euroshell aimed to consolidate production onto a single core shooter machine, thereby reducing cycle times, lowering labor requirements, and improving the overall efficiency of the plant.
At the same time, the company sought to enhance working conditions and the quality of the finished product by integrating solutions that meet the market’s growing demands for flexibility and automation.
The solution
Primafond developed a custom-designed SMEC 100 tilting core shooter machine for Euroshell, built to accommodate two assembled core boxes simultaneously. This configuration allowed the company to reorganize operational resources, working with one operator per shift instead of two, and freeing up two previously occupied core shooter machines, now available for other production activities.
The introduction of the SMEC 100 immediately brought benefits in terms of versatility and productivity, representing an effective solution aligned with the initial requirements.
Advantages
Thanks to the new machine supplied by Primafond, Euroshell fully achieved its set objectives. Production efficiency improved significantly due to the ability to work with multiple core boxes simultaneously and reduce processing times. Labor availability was optimized and operational flexibility increased, enabling the company to redistribute resources more strategically. Product quality also benefited from the integration of a modern and reliable core shooter machine designed to ensure precision and continuity.
